Vital collagen has diverse structures and functions and has a long history of application
Vital collagen is a fibrous protein in the human body, accounting for 25% to 33% of the total protein content of the human body, mainly found in the skin, muscles, bones, teeth, internal organs (such as stomach, intestines, heart and lungs, blood vessels and esophagus) and eyes, etc. It plays the role of supporting organs and protecting the body, and at the same time, it is closely related to the formation and maturation of cells, the transmission of information between cells, the proliferation, division, movement of cells and the healing of wounds.
Vital collagen is a protein that constitutes the basis of life. There are many types of vital collagen, and 26 types have been found so far. Type IV collagen is the most abundant and well-studied collagen, accounting for about 90% of the total collagen in the body.
As early as 175 AD, Dr. Galen first used collagen as an absorbable casing suture. At present, vital collagen can be used in biology, medicine, chemical industry, food and other fields, and has a wide range of uses.
The diversity and complexity of the structural and functional characteristics of vital collagen determine its important position in many fields and its good application prospects. At present, the products derived from vital collagen on the market mainly include: collagen, active collagen, hydrolyzed gelatin , collagen peptides, etc.
